Jobs in San Antonio

Paraprofessionals—also known as paraeducators, teacher’s aides or teaching assistants— support students and certified teachers in the classroom. You'll work with students 1-on-1 or in small groups to make sure all students' learning needs are met.

San Antonio schools especially need paraprofessionals in shortage areas like bilingual education and special education.

Becoming a paraprofessional 

Check your local school district’s website to start looking for paraprofessional positions. Paraprofessional requirements vary by district. For example, to work as a paraprofessionl in Northside ISD, you'll need at least an associate degree (about two years of college study), or you must complete a formal training program to show you can assist in reading, writing and math. When full-time teachers can’t be in the classroom, substitute teachers step in! Substitute teaching lets you work with different age groups and subjects, and learn about what teaching path fits you best.
